:: I finished Julia's cap-sleeved spring shirt on Monday night. She insisted on wearing it to the bakery yesterday and then stripped it off almost as soon as we got there, so no photo. Yet. I'm sure I'll have one to share eventually. It turned out big, as I hoped, and I added extra length because she seems to grow taller before she grows wider. I hope it will fit her at least until next spring (and it would be better still if we could stretch that until the following fall).
:: At the bakery I started another new sweater for Julia—poor Asher is really left out this spring, isn't he? I do have some plans for him; I suppose I should actually start them soon... The pattern is the Maggie knit blouse; I stumbled upon it...somewhere...a few weeks ago and was smitten. Really, yesterday I knit a gauge swatch; I haven't actually cast on the sweater yet.
:: While knitting the gauge swatch I taught myself to knit backward. I couldn't figure out how it would work when I tried to picture it in my mind, but once I sat down to do it, it came to me really easily. Oddly—or maybe not; I am after all a lefty whose inclination is to do just about everything backward—this is quite possibly the way knitting feels most comfortable to me. I am definitely looking forward to eliminating all that purling when I knit stockinette flat.
:: Since I accidentally linked an old post in last week's Yarn Along, I'm going to repeat the news about Angela's latest pattern, released last week. Through the end of March she is offering another pattern at half-price with the purchase of the Middle Beach scarf pattern from her Ravelry shop. (In case you're interested, here is last week's post.)
:: I've finally graduated from Buddhism for Mothers
to Buddhism for Mothers of Young Children. I loved the first one and am loving the second one; my sister makes great choices when she buys me books for Christmas! I've briefly looked at the most recent issue of Taproot but haven't had time to really dig in yet. The illustration on the cover makes me want to snuggle with Julia and Asher every time I see it...
Joining Ginny at small things, as always...
